If you love Elk Grove, you LOVE the Elk Grove Western Festival!
Don't miss it! This weekend there are a ton of activities to check out, including the parade. My family and I moved to Elk Grove over 40 years ago (jeez I'm old!), so I have so many memories around the Elk Grove Western Festival.
My favorite memories involve the parade that goes down Elk Grove Blvd on Saturday morning. We used to pack up early and head down to my Dad's office in Old Town Elk Grove (back when the parade route went through that area). We'd set up our chairs and try to stay calm as we eagerly anticipated hearing the parade start. There was always a large crowd of us and I still remember my Dad always making Golden Cadillac drinks before the event for everyone. Such good memories!
Can you believe this years marks the 60th anniversary of the Elk Grove Western Festival? That's just crazy!
The festivities start off on Friday night with the Western Idol, a local signing/talent competition! The carnival is in full swing at that time too!
