One Day Projects to add curb appeal.

Help your realtor by doing some simple, hopefully inexpensive projects to add curb appeal, better staging for your photos and to entire buyers to come see your home.  Making a first impression is as important as your mother told you it was and that goes for your home as well.  Having appealing photos for your home bring second looks from buyers.

Add a Little Glam to the Front Doorpocono-2

Your entry is usually the focal point for the front of your home.  Clean it up, maybe change the color or polish the wood.  Make the windows sparkle.  Does the hardware need a little polish or maybe even replaced?  Add a wreath to reflect the personality of the interior of your home.

Create Eye Appeal

Just like we humans prefer symmetry in the facial features of the ones we consider beautiful, the same is in design.  Symmetry is found eveyrwhere in nature and will be equally beautiful in your front yard.  Entice the buyer to linger on your pictures by creating symmetry with lighting, plants and front door accents.

 High "Light" Your Front Yard

Outdoor lighting not only adds safety and security to your home, but it also adds appeal.  There are all kind of options to add lighting to your home.  There are solar and wired lighting that can be purchased from retailers or hardware stores.  Add a little drama by lighting one of the beautiful trees or a water feature.  Lights along paths or steps are a great way to create a safe environment for you and your guests.

"Mend" the Grass

Just like jeans overtime your lawn can look a little worn and torn.  Pets, wild animals, weather and people can take their toll on the lawn.  Take some time and cut out the dead spots and replace with sod or seed.  Try to water your lawn at least 1" per week.  If restrictions in your area allow try to water your lawn at least 2-3 times a week.

Add Window Boxesgreenoak-7

Depending on the style of your home this can be an inexpensive way to add a little punch of color to your home.  A copper box looks wonderful on a traditional home or choose a wood box for more of cottage feel.  Make sure you pick flowers or greenery that matches the amount of sun they will receive as well as colors that compliment your home.

Update Planters and Beds

Shabby planters and flower beds give buyers the idea that you have neglected your home.  And the next thought for a buyer is if they let the outside go, did they let other maintenance around the home go? So be sure to keep these are clean and tidy.

Prune, pull weeds, add flowers and new mulch to make the flower beds look "buyer" ready.  Add a border around the beds to give them a finished look.  If you already have a border make sure they do not look worn or damaged.

Keep it clean23BrookRidge_003

Easy and budget wise for updating the outside is just a good pressure washing of the sides of your home, decks, patios, driveways and sidewalks.  You can rent a pressure washer from most home improvements stores.

Just a little money and  a little time can add a big impression to the future buyer of your home.
