There is no question that housing demand in Broward county remains high and it seems that no area is off limits as constuction sites, as noted by the following two Broward cities who recently announced new housing plans:
DEERFIELD BEACH: To the dismay of some area residents, the city of Deerfield Beach agreed to allow Hoyer Homes to build over 400 residential units (290 single family homes and 125 townhome units) on the 109 acre Crystal Lake golf course, while noting that it has been 25 years since Deerfield Beach has had new single family housing. This rezoning decision follows a now familiar pattern of under used Broward county golf courses being converted to residential use, due to soaring housing demand and dwindling golfing. The city of Deerfield Beach, once home to 5 golf courses, will now have only one course.
PLANTATION: Contruction of 271 luxury residential rental units will start in early 2018 and is expected to take 18 months to complete. The housing, being developed by Lennar Corporation, will be built on a 5.1 acre site in the city's Midtown District, specifically at the Lakeside Office Center, 600 N. Pine Island Rd.
