October 5th is Do Something Nice Day! Help Brighten Someone's Day by Silicon Valley REALTOR Michelle Carr Crowe
It seems that this year, week after week, the news on television, in newspapers, and in magazines are filled with upsetting information. The world has never been perfect, but the developments lately seem like a never-ending pile of "bad news" in some way or another. These kinds of events, tragedies, diasters, mistakes, etc make it feel nearly impossible for the good in the world to be seen, despite the fact it is still there. With that in mind, it seems like "Do Something Nice Day" is coming just in time.
We as humans are social beings, and helping each other out is our default even if some others forget that along the way. Doing something nice can be a multitude of things. With the destruction of the recent hurricanes, there are victims struggling in Florida and the Carribbean Islands, Puerto Rico especially. As a gesture of kindness, finding a place to donate money (see my previous post: Want To Help the US Territory Puerto Rico? Here is How...) would certainly qualify. There are also blood donation stations set up to donate blood to the victims of the Las Vegas shooting, as well as places to donate items. Of course, in general, blood donating is a very important part of helping others. The amount of people donating blood always skyrockets after tragedies but slowly dwindles back down in the weeks following it. If you donate blood today, try to schedule another time to donate when you're eligable to.
If you want to do something nice for a local organization, for your work/co-workers, your neighbors, your friends, or even family, they all count! Nice deeds are impossible to measure, as their biggest reward is the happiness you feel when knowing you've done them!
