NO EXPECTATIONS - JUST EMPOWERMENT

I am thankful I broke myself free to escape to the mountains in September of 2017. For the third year in a row, I felt centered in happiness and peace in the State of Montana. There is a feeling of empowerment when I can drive down a country road not knowing where I am going. But I know, I'll know what I'm looking for as soon as I find it.

What started out with smokey days due to forest fires, suddenly the clouds rolled in and seemed to push away the color gray and turned the sky a vivid blue. Down the road I saw a red barn, so I got there as quickly as I could.

ONE MOMENT IN TIME

Scenes like this do exist, if only for a moment. It's all about the timing, taking chances, following the light, and being lucky to be in the right location without having any expectations.

EMOTIONAL HIGH

I don't need alcohol, drugs, or a map to find that emotional high. Life is about driving oneself to the limits of endurance because you believe in triumphs; you believe in yourself.

COURAGE

Despite all the business plans that promise nothing more than false hope, like mining for gold in California, or digging for oil in Texas, taking control of your wheelhouse takes courage. Personal growth is not just about the money, it's about being exactly where you need to be when you didn't even know what you were looking for; however, it's there! Seeing where courage takes you feels like you just moved a mountain. Truly, I am thankful!

Hi Patricia - You're right. If we're going to thrive and make the most of the opportunities that life and our profession offer us daily, we're going to have to find courage within.

Hello Patricia Feager, another lovely post that spoke to my heart. For me, courage, faith and pursuit of happiness go together. When we want something, the only person who has the power to stand in the way is ourselves.
I admire your courage and going after what makes you happy and complete. Beautiful picture!

Good morning, Patricia... I've only been to Montana once and so many decades ago, I have no real impression (except of the best steak I ever ate). It sounds like this is truly your refuge in life and you are fortunate to have found such a place. As always, your photos are stunning and your words touching.

Nina Hollander - I like to explore other states more than once and see as much as I can see. When it comes to road trips, I follow my heart, the sun, and sunsets too! As the sun was setting over the countryside in Mountain, my heart was racing to get somewhere special. I had no idea where I'd find IT, that pace I felt so much beauty in return for my efforts. This was it!!!

I was happy to see that Myrl Jeffcoat featured it in her PHOTOS group! Also, thank you for letting me know what you think about my photos and writing too.

Thank you!

I haven't really spent time in Montana.  However, I have set foot in certain places where I feel totally comfortable and at piece.  One is Savannah, Georgia.  Another, was in Lancaster County, PA, among the Amish.  I have family living within 140 miles of my current Greater Sacramento home however.  Therefore, I'm unlikely to move, and they will probably need to carry my dead body out of my house in a box.

Myrl Jeffcoat - thanks for the feature in the PHOTOS group! Of course, you know I'm thankful.

I've never been to Savannah. Perhaps it's because before Vietnam, before Germany, there was Hunter's Army Air-force Base and my spouse said he would never go to Georgia again. Personally, I've never experienced it but would today if opportunity presented itself.

I have been to places in PA where Amish lived and stopped in many of their stores and restaurants. It was always a very special and enjoyable. As for Greater Sacramento, you fit it fine and I couldn't imagine you ever leaving there. You seem so happy and you're well versed on its history. I love reading your stories about Sacramento and family life too.

May you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!

Patricia, wonderful post. Made me think hard today as I have a decision to make. Seems my burn I got on my left foot from hot bacon grease has given me some problems. I have a bone infection in my two toes and the doctor wants to put me on a high potent antibiotic IV for 6 weeks. I know I need to start this as the infection could go into the blood stream. But, I am getting another opinion before making my mind up.

I am hesitant to put anything in my body since I had my left adrenal gland removed... because of the Methotrexate and Enbrel I was on for 10 years. Drugs are so bad on the body and can really destroy other parts of the body.

Thanks for this lovely post. All the best and Happy Thanksgiving.

Rebecca Gaujot - Have you done a search on Mayo Clinic Burns? They give very good information, particularly for burns. When in doubt, I always do my own research before seeing a doctor then make a list of questions to ask based upon what I learned from reading articles from the Mayo Clinic.

Many years ago, my son had an accident and fell off a roof. I didn't know if he'd ever walk again. I learned that the foot has many tiny bones and injuries can be very serious. In the meantime, I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
