I wrote a post on the orphans and the vulnerable children in Namibia for the Bread of Life Foundation Namibia last year. I am on the board of this charitable foundation. One of the board members, Rebecca Mink, was going to Namibia in May and needed to take warm clothes for the children since it would be winter time there and they were in dire need of clothes. The temps drop to 30 degrees or lower in the evening/night.
To help in this endeavor, I went to yard sales and purchased all the children clothes I could find to send to Namibia…. coats, jeans, sweaters, long PJs, shoes, etc. It was so much fun, I was grabbing all the children's clothes. My car was packed and I only spent about $100.00. The next thing I needed to find was a very large suitcase. Luckily, I found one at the Habitat Restore for only $4.00 in excellent shape.
The clothes were packed in the suitcase with some art supplies for the children and Rebecca Mink took them on her visit to Namibia in May.
I pay it forward throughout the year for many charities in the area, but this one is so rewarding to me, especially when I see the faces of the children like the one below where they are wearing the clothes I found for them.
Rebecca Mink is going on another visit this month. At our Board meeting last week it was decided to buy Christmas presents for the children. Black baby dolls for the smaller girls, soccer balls for the younger boys and watches for the older boys and girls. We found them online and I've donated $300 for the purchase of these items.
Bread of Life Foundation is a 501c(3) organization. All gifts are tax deductible. I am also sponsoring a child that provides food and the gospel for $26 a month. If you would like to pay it forward, please email Rebecca Mink at breadoflifenamibia@gmail.com or call 304-497-3724.
