The Tampa-St. Petersburg metro area is the 7th best metro area to retire, according to a new report released by Bankrate.com.
The study reviewed the 50 largest metro areas in the U.S. based on several factors a person should consider when retiring including: local weather, cost of living, crime rate, health care quality and affordability, taxes, senior well-being, friend factor, or the percentage of population that's 65 or older, cultural vitality and public transportation.
The Tampa metro area received the highest score for its friend factor. That paired with its low cost of living, where it ranks No. 10 among the 50 metros, and senior well-being, with a No. 12 ranking, makes Tampa/St. Petersburg a great place to live for retirees, according to the Bankrate.com report.
