I think I started selling real estate because I thought like so many of us do that I would have more control over my time and have unlimited income potential. Well, the unlimited income potential is true as long as you are willing to work very hard and sometimes put in long, long hours. So the bottom line is I did it for me and what it could do for my family. And although often times I work long hours, I also was always able to attend my children’s sporting and school events because real estate does provide a flexible schedule.
I have stayed in real estate over the years because of the wonderful people I get to meet. I have met so many new friends through selling their home or helping them to purchase a home. A lot of my clients become my friends. In a real estate transaction you become very involved in each family’s unique needs and wants during the course of the 60 to 90 days we work with them. There are times you feel like a counselor and other times you become a cheerleader. I don’t believe when I started in real estate, I realized this. It is actually a very intimate business while helping clients with the biggest transaction of their lives and it is very rewarding.
I also have become close friends with a lot of my real estate peers. When you are in the business for as long as I have been, you meet a lot of great agents and vendor partners. I have been very blessed to work with a great many of them.
Yes, there are struggles in transactions and we figure out how to get through them together. Some of these struggles I will talk about in future blog posts while also telling you some of the wonderful things that happen to us during the course of a transaction.
Real estate has been very good to me. Not only has it provided a great income for me over the years, but I have also bought and sold rental properties which have provided even more income. I honestly can’t imagine doing any other type of work. I love my job!
