For many of you this may look like a drop in the bucket, but for me this is a major milestone. Looking back at my blog, it appears my first post on Active Rain was published on May 14, 2017. I have actively been working towards this first 100K points for almost a year.
At the beginning, I was going strong, posting every day or two. As time went on, my posts became more sporadic. However, I checked in regularly, and participated in the Q and A forum often.
In January, Lynn B. Friedman's contest propelled me to blog, blog, blog! I completed the required 15 posts for the MAXI challenge, and earned a ton of bonus points too! I spoke with Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland earlier this year and was astonished to learn she posts almost daily. I’m not quite there yet, but I try to post at least once a week. Some weeks are better than others. Obviously, my obligations to my clients come first, and blogging comes second. However, after reading a post from Praful Thakkar earlier this year I started implementing a few daily strategies for keeping up in the Rain.
It’s actually quite simple. Every day I login. This earns you 100 points each day. Additionally, every day I follow 5 members for an additional 50 points. This ensures 150 points daily. It’s part of my morning ritual now to login and follow 5 members. I then look at the blogs. Oftentimes, I read them but don’t have anything insightful to comment. Occasionally, I have something to add and earn 50 points for my comment.
Looking back, I am so grateful that I joined Active Rain. It’s an amazing community and resource for my business. Additionally, the blogging is starting to pay off. My posts are beginning to pop-up organically in search results and people are calling and emailing me as a result. This is the greatest reward.
It hasn’t been particularly easy to reach this first 100,000 points. However, I think the next 100,000 will come quicker than the first. Thank you to all that encouraged me to join when I first asked about the benefit of becoming a member in the Q and A forum a year ago.
