Stimulus Checks

Tax Rebate Checks ... To stimulate the economy... Yeah, right.

So here's my informal survey...

How many people reading this own rental property?

How many of your tenants are really struggling to keep their rent payments current?

How many of your tenants have said to you something like "Please, just hold on until my tax rebate check comes in, and then I can catch up".

I'd certainly rather they use that check to pay rent .... even though our government intended it for people to go out and buy stuff to "stimulate" the economy.  Sorry, Mr. Bush.

The way I look at it, it is better than nothing which is what we usually get from the government, thank you for your post

Hi CJ, this rebate may all turn out to be the impetuous that Congress uses to raise taxes. Give a little and then rake it all back again. I am not suspecting most will be just buying stuff. Gasoline being what it is, it might ease that for a couple months. I heard somewhere that Apple was so encouraged that they have a lot of iPods ready in case the masses flock in.

Cheryl,  We spent most of ours.  And I am sureyou are going to spend the money your renters pay your.  It is going to be spent somewhere.

Cheryl, I have to say I agree.  I know I will be paying bills off--if it ever comes!

I have one rental property with a renter that pays every month on time!  A wonderful thing.  I'm taking my personal stimulus to pay down credit card debt.  So, you see, I already borrowed the money and spent the it and now I'm paying it back.

I'm personally working hard to go completely debt free.  It's hard to do with fixed expenses (like the MLS, my office fee, etc.) and not a much money coming in from settlements, etc. but I'm determined.
