Thankful for the Beauty and Celebration of Christmas
I am so thankful for the beauty and celebrating Christmas. Our house is filled with beautiful decorations, and the wonderful smells of delicious foods. We have many different ethnic groups in our combined families, so our festivities are usually centered around a variety of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy. Parties, and get togethers as well as church activities are abundant during this season. We have so much to be thankful for and it is a great time of the year to give thanks.
We love to entertain and get together with our family and friends many times during the holiday season. Some are sit down intimate dinners, and others are more of a buffet style. The photo on the left was a dessert buffet that we had a few years ago.
We put up an artificial tree. Here in Florida it is so warm and the live trees never last long enough for us, and we are always fearful of the danger of a fire with the lights.
I guess you would say that our decorations are more traditional and most of the beautiful decorations I have collected over the years. A collection of churches, and angels as well as many beautiful ornaments. Each year I usually receive at least one new special ornament or decoration of some type to add to the collection. At the end of the season, each one is very carefully wrapped and stored to be cherished again year after year.
Many of our decorations are probably more than 40 years old, maybe older. The decorating usually begins right around Thanksgiving and we keep everything up until after the New Year.
No snow here in Florida, but you will still see quite a few outdoor decorations in homes, restaurants, and hotels. Outside our home we have lighted wreaths in our dormer windows and lots of red bows, lights, and poinsettia plants. Here's wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season and many good times with your family and friends.
