My mother has been in the business since 1969. She bought out the owner in the 1990 and opened a second office in 1991. My husband got his license in 1980 as an agent and is now the General Manager. I got both my license and brokers license in 1995. My youngest daughter is pregnant with her 2nd daughter and works in our office internally until her children are old enough for her to start her career...she is an amazing mom! Now, I only tell you this to give some perspective on my story. I hope that all of you can experience your child being an amazing real estate agent! Kellie, my oldest daughter got her license 2 years ago. Not only has she proven to be a natural (I am learning things from her), but she is getting involved in the Sacramento Associaton of Realtors. She is Chair of one committee and active in others. Her newly formed committee (the Young Professionals Council) had their first fundraiser. It made $3200 for a school for homeless children. I watched her work at the fundraiser in utter amazement...that's my child! Wow!
Congratulations to you and your family- it seems other families are benefiting from her too.
AWESOME! I have encouraged my children to follow me into the business, but they have proven uninterested. May you and your progeny profit from the real estate business.
Don't give up Vickie...it took 15 years and 3 sign ups for real estate school before my mom convinced me (and I really decided to do it after I filled in for her offices missing secretary for a few weeks). 13 years later, I'm so glad I did!
Paula: What a wonderful story you have shared with us. I am so pleased for you that Kellie is doing so well. It sounds like we could all learn something from her.
Thanks Karen! I am certainly learning something. Being in the business 13 years, and after watching her, I realized that I was getting a little relaxed in my work. She has made me more efficient, a better listener and a harder worker...in general, a better Realtor.
