Home sales appear to be slowing down within the high-end home market.  Sellers are realizing they need to invest in upgrades to their home prior to putting their home on the market.  Now that there is a larger inventory of these types of homes on the market, this gives buyers more choice to choose from.  In order for sellers to meet the demand of buyers, many sellers are being forced to update their home.  Following are some upgrades a seller can make to their home to improve their chances of quick sale:

High ceilings – Many buyers are asking about and desiring high ceilings.  They are looking for 10 to 13 feet high ceilings.

Accordion glass doors – Some homeowners are replacing French doors with new accordion glass doors.  By switching doors, gives the home a contemporary updated look, instead of the traditional look.

Countertops – Natural stone such as quartzite is becoming more popular.  Buyers like natural stone since is hardier, and they are moving towards the lighter whites and grays replacing the darker granites.  Light, neutral countertops are becoming more popular.

Multi- car garages – Buyers like to have a home with at least a 3-car garage, and some buyers desiring a home with at least 4 or more garage spaces.  Now many homeowners have 3 or more vehicles, and some want extra area for storage.

Smart home systems – In todays’ market, homes are expected to have a number of automation systems, such as: lights, window treatment, thermostats and security systems.

Neutral décor – Todays’ home buyers are turn on with light gray colors for their flooring and walls.  The heavy brown look is no longer popular.
