Homes in probate can be a good deal... or not!
Are you curious about buying a home you have seen advertised in Long Island as a probate sale? Here is the best advice I can give: research, research, research!
For instance, you need to consider the waiting time for the house to become available for sale in the market. In some states, that period can last up for several years (four years to be exact) while in the state of New York, the process only lasts from two to six months. On average, the wait can take three months.
Why am I bringing this up? Well, probate properties are not exactly a great choice if you're in a rush to buy a home. You may want to consider other options like new constructions or regular listings without any legal disputes.
Either way, I've a great friend who's an experienced probate agent in Long Island... and of course, he does regular real estate transactions too—in a hassle-free and 100% transparent manner. He has been buying and selling homes in the area since he retired from the banking industry, so working with him means that you'll be guided by no less than a real estate expert!
