Stop setting Goals!!

Is anyone as tired as I in the goal setting arena. Every year I set goals for the number of listings I will sell, the number of people I will contact daily, the number of buyers I will land, the conversion ratios I want to achieve, the books I will read, the calories I will count, the parental knowledge I will improve on etc....etc... etc.....

It is time to start living NOW instead of..... I will start living WHEN I accomplish this goal or that goal. Try to live like you have already accomplished the goal.  For example if you want to sell 200 units a year, wake up everyday and say I am selling 200 units a year, not I am going to.... OR, ...I am contacting 20 people a day, NOT my goal is to contact 20 people a day. Once you start living it in your head, you begin going that direction without even knowing you are heading there.  Believing is everything...believing gives you the first chance at achieving.  Anyoine have experience at this??

How did this little blog slip through with no fanfare?

I never set "goals" - I just work hard... work smart... do what I say I'm gonna do... and good things happen.

But, I'm a crazy list-maker, so maybe that's a form of goal setting. My goal is to get stuff crossed off my list!!

I do set goals, however, I don't look at them daily.  I have an attitude of if 200 is the number units for the year, I will look at it quarterly.  Meanwhile, I wake each day saying here is what I can do today let's get it done.  Like Jennifer, I have a list.  No choice, my memory wont keep me up to date anymore :)

Usually, my list is my action plan toward my goal.  Like Jennifer & Theresa, I am also a list maker with a goal to cross everything off....but if you look at the list you can see (hopefully) that every action is a step (even if it is small) toward the bigger goal in something in your life.

Example:  If my goals are for yearly production, I usually break it down to monthly so it becomes more managable and therefore, more attainable.  My list becomes the daily actions that I have to take to get to that monthly goal and then ultimately reach the yearly goal.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the comments.  I still wonder if people understand what I am trying to say. If you decide to live a certain way you will begin living that way. Once you believe something  can be done you have a chance of accomplishing it.  Setting goals can take a lot of time and effort. I chose to get up everyday and be a good mom, a great Realtor, a top producer, a healthily eater, a happy person, a great friend, and before long thinking becomes believing and believing becomes action. It begins happening before you even know it.

I get what you're trying to say, I think. Live "as if" your dreams/goals are true. Not as if it's something that will come true in the future...? Right?
