Gitomer was GREAT

Jeffery Gitomer was in Boise this morning and I had the wonderful opportunity to visit with him for a few minutes.  The guy is a LOT of fun to listen to, even though some of his language is a bit colorful (of course, that's part o the fun I guess).  His advice was shockingly simple, which really shouldn't have surprised me.  A lot of what I teach as a business coach is simple...much of it common sense even.  But it always amazes me how people either don't pay attention to the simple and obvious things...or they just don't do it.  Why???  Why not impliment strategies that have been proven to work for others?  Gitomer, for example, said that you need to be LIKED by your prospects to have them do business with you.  You need them to be FANS of yours, not just "satisfied".  Duh!  Don't we all know that already?  Yet how many of us treat our customers like the most important people on earth?  How many of us really...really...treat them like gold?  Gitomer had a pic of Brad Pitt (shirtless of course) that he showed, and said "how would you treat this guy if he showed up at your shop?"  Would you say "I'll be with you in a minute"...or "can I help you?"  No way!  You'd do whatever you could to impress him and make him your #1 fan!  Why not treat everyone that way?  Gitomer even said he treats his customers that way, whether it's a $500,000 training week or a $5 copy of an old article.

Great reminders.  And a wonderful and charismatic speaker for sure!  I'd recommend him and many of his simple and effective books.

Love his books.

Would love to see him in action, but hasn't been close enough yet.

Thanks for sharing.

Hooray for Gitomer! I saw him back a few months ago and had him sign a book (Customer Satisfaction is Worthless, Customer Loyalty is Priceless.)

I read the Sales Bible (new version!) every morning while eatting my oatmeal. Gets me going for the day.

Glad to see there are other Gitomerites on AR!
