How to Schedule Instagram Posts with Later for Free

Later is a great program that I found several months ago that helps me schedule my Instagram posts for free. I don't know about you but I struggle to remember each day to take a picture and write a post on Instagram. The day just gets away from me and then it's the end of the day and I realize that I have not shared anything socially with my audience.

The other great feature about Later is that it's free. Usually, when I start a free program, it looks good at first but then I end up getting stuck not being able to do all I want to do with the program and need to upgrade to a paid plan. Not so with Later. I've been able to do all I want to do with the free program.

Here are the steps to take to schedule Instagram posts on Later:

1. Decide how many times a week you want to post. Many people think you need to post once a day but I've also heard that 3 times a week is good too. If you have random content that comes up during the week, you can just post that on your Instagram stories instead. Using Later helps your feed look nicer because the pictures and content are planned out and intentional for your brand.

2. Get a Later account and upload media from your desktop into your Later account.

3. Decide which days you want to post which pictures.

4. Click on a picture and add your caption and hashtags. Then pick the date and time you want the post to appear. Make sure your image doesn't have a red triangle by it. If it does, just click on it and choose to crop it to Instagram's specs on the screen that comes up. Then just click "Create Post" and you're all set. Another way to schedule in Later is to drag the picture to the place on the calendar where you want to picture to appear. Then you can add your caption and hashtags there. Play around with it and see which method you prefer.

5. Repeat this process until you have content lined up for the week or month. This is the best way to batch post content to Instagram that I have found. I have found that my posts are much better when I use this method because I am focused on the pictures and wording that I need for my brand. I am able to pick the best pictures, not just what I randomly find on my phone when I realize that I haven't posted in a few days. Some people even do a photoshoot once a week for their Instagram posts for the week.

6. Install the Later app on your phone. Then when your post goes live, Later will send you a notification that your post was scheduled. You can go on with whatever you were doing knowing that you don't have to worry about posting on Instagram that day.

I hope this post was helpful to everyone that knows they should be on Instagram but have a hard time fitting it into their day. Feel free to follow me on Instagram (my account is still a work in progress) or check out the healthy living tips on my blog HeidiNaturally.
