Sneezing into the new year...

Real Estate Agent with Jameson Sotheby's International Realty

I was scrolling through Facebook, today (I know, quelle suprise, right?), and I can across this hysterical post of 16 surprising ways to injure yourself when you're over 40.  It included a couple of items that actually caused me to literally, laugh-out-loud.  C'mon.... "carrying all your remotes to the couch".... "rolling your eyes at your teens"... "trying to pull up a wet bathing suit".

Seriously made me laugh.

But they left out a couple of semi-serious ones that I've actually had occur to me.

You don't get this far along in life without a couple of aches and pains... and I have more than my share.  I've suffered some back injuries, including a nice little surgitation a while back.

I used to load up on Advil, Vicodin, a little Valium and some muscle relaxers...  really dramatically limits your alcohol intake, I'll tell you that.  Most of those were prior to my surgitation.

I found that a simple sneeze, or a good cough.... could send me into fits of muscle pain, spasms and inability to function.  Getting in and out of a car, without major pain, became difficult.  Not really a problem for a real estate agent, right?

Turning around while trying to back out of a parking space could be an impossibility... thank heavens for back-up-cameras. Oy!

Alan- I knew that my friends and I had crossed over into "old people" world when we were getting into our car after going to a University of Nebraska football game. As we opened our 4 doors and climbed into the car, you could hear each one of us groan and make the typical sounds of an old person.

i remember one day when I returned home... sad down with a thud, and said to myself: "Did I just say 'oy', out loud as I sat down?"

So sad. There is nothing like a huge sneeze to set you right with the world but when your ribs and back are suffering. So sad

... or sometimes to 'cause' your ribs and back to go bad.
