Harry Behymer old grocery store historic photo

Grocery store?

This is an interesting old picture of  a store of some kind.  Is he holding a knife?  What is he selling?  Are those cabinets in the back for foods that need electricity.

On the back is his name, Harry Behymer, and it makes me wonder all over again why some families do not cherish their old family pictures.  They are left behind when moves are made, when houses are foreclosed, when relatives die, when estate sales are held.  Here is another family member, probably, of the Behymer family.  It has a name on the back that is not quite clear but says "To Carribelle Behymer."  The uniform is from World War I?

Searching through the old pictures seems to indicate that Carribelle Behymer married and became Mrs. John Pierce.  Are any relatives out there anywhere?

Morning Barbara.

We have several boxes of old photos, most of them we know the peoples names.  A few of them are nameless.  Pity, I didn't ask when I could have as to who they were and why my parents kept them

James, as we age we should think about going through old photos and putting names on the back.  I have not done that.  Some of these photos do have names on the back so that is how I got the unusual name of Behymer.

Hello Barbara - I was just given another box of photos and assorted childhood miscellany as my Mom cleans out things.  I still have not gone through it all.  Most I have seen previously but there are a few that might be from her childhood.  Some people I don't recognize.  Some have messages but many don't.  More mysteries.  I am sure that many attics/basements/closets/drawers have other such things to be discovered/rediscovered.

Barbara - I can imagine folks who live in your area absolutely love these old photos you post.  I belong to a Facebook group for Sacramento History, and often love revisiting pictures of how are city was during my childhood, and even beyond.

Michael, the attics do have them but I hate that kids (like you?) don't want them.  LOL  The young folks of today seem to care nothing about their family background information.  The older they get, though, the more they will wonder who came before them.

Myrl, I do seem to have a reputation around town.  The way I am working now is to put the blog up and then put the blog on facebook.  Each click then is counted on activerain so I can tell about how many people have clicked to see the blog.
