Florida legislative wrapup for the 2008 session - Part 2
SB 2860 - Regarding homeowners insurance and Citizens property insurance was signed into law. The Governor line item vetoed a few of the provisions, but most of it is now law. This new law goes into effect 7/1/08.
HB 643 - The controversial Foreclosure Fraud bill was signed into law. This goes into effect 10/1/08, so we have some time for FAR and other groups to give us some guidance on how to deal with it.
SB 1790 - The law that raises the court fees on just about every court filing out there was signed into law just a few days ago. The big shocker was the cost of an eviction filing going from $75 to $265. This goes into effect 7/1/08.
HB 1489 - The law that allows landlords to charge an early termination fee to tenants. The Governor signed this one into law earlier this week as well. This goes into effect immediately.
HB 743 - The mortgage fraud law was signed by the Governor a couple of weeks ago. This goes into effect 7/1/08.
So far the other bills have not yet been signed. I will keep you posted if they do get signed into law. Stay tuned until next time ...
