Don't BLOW It - Relay FACTS Only!
From the start of the Coronavirus outbreak, searching out reliable sources was a No. 1 priority. My focus went to the CDC.GOV web site, rather than giving in to the sensationalistic media hype, designed to drive traffic rather than responsible, eithical reporting.
The following are some things that you can do to comfort or relieve concerns for clients:
- Be sure to convey reliable information. Refrain from jumping on the panic train, haphazardly throwing information out there just to capture anyone's attention, otherwise you may lose integrity with everyone. People have a long memory.
- Avoid making light of the situation and practice with an empathic ear for those who may need to purge their fears and concerns. Of course, using humor can relieve pent-up tension for those who may be overly concerned. Know your audience.
- Call clients to ask if they need anything. Recently, I went to a Danville home where most of the residents are wheel-chair bound due to cerebral palsey, unable to shop for necessary items themselves. I offered to pick up any items they may need.
- This is a great time to re-connect remotely with those who have trusted you in the past. I recently moved brokerages and will send out a greeting card notifying all my past and present clients of that recent change. Will also offer something of value.
- Do not, at any cost, predict what the future may hold, especially the real estate market. Leave that to Z.com or other national sites that tout erroneous information. You are the trusted professional and need to maintain that stance at all costs.
Your soft contact will truly show in the spirit of care with no hidden agendas. Real estate is a business that continues to depend on creating and sustaining trust relationships to build upon for success now and for future days.
And THAT's a FACT!
