Stay safe at home. Start cooking. Humble home-cooking has become a pandemic pastime or sudden passion during the Covid-19 outbreak. Whether you are hungry, bored or need an anxiety outlet, this page offers a lighter space to show us how you are using your pandemic pantry. Share simple healthy recipes from one-pot meals, plant-based recipes, soups, stews, instant pot recipes and anything that sweetens your day!

Toronto is on lockdown till June 30th. As we are adjusting to a new reality here, our home kitchens have become the most important space. I decided to start a group called Toronto Covid Cooking for home cooks to come together. After all, who isn't cooking and spending more time at home. Are your kids learning to cook too? This is a public group and anyone is welcome to join and share their daily food diaries. I would love to see what you are cooking up and sharing your recipe inspirations!

Hi Anne,
What a nice idea.  I'll check out the Facebook page. Cooking hasn't been one of my favorite pastimes, especially since my husband passed away and I'm cooking for one.  I am, however, doing more cooking at home since we are on a stay-at-home order from the Governor.

Hi Carol,
We also have a stay home order in Toronto up till June 30th. I am in a household of 2 and I have been offloading extras to neighbours doing curb side drop offs. Then I don't have to eat the same thing for days. Take care and keep well.

Anne Lok - It's about time people got back to the kitchen and enjoyed their own homemade meals. I am guessing, in time many restaurants may be closing just because people will enjoy making their own meals more than they think. When I think back to the way life was when I was a kid, there were only 3 local restaurants, mothers stayed home and cooked, restaurants were used for special occasions, and fast food stores, like McDonald or Burger King was in the suburbs, not the heart of the city, Chicago.

Hi Patricia - Interesting how food connects all of us and rethink the necessities in life. Some of top Toronto chefs came together and complied a bunch of open source survival recipes to be used in quarantine during a global pandemic. https://opensourcecookbook.cargo.site/
