Our Santa Clara County, Ca was the first US county with Corvid two deaths preceding Kirkland, Washington reporting--supposedly the first one on February 29, 2020 by 23 days.  WHO told US government it was not transmittable by human contact and it was an Asian local epidemic already contained. Local officials took another look these deaths were tested positive after knowing the effect. John Dotson from AR commented on May 15 that I even beat these victims with blogs posted as far back as January 23 as I sensed something catastrophic was coming this way.  In fact, I acted right away with disinfectants and masks purchase that I kept for special occasions. Wearing masks, wash hands were the only effective way not to infect or contract germs or virus. Social distance is great but often not practical in urban. Masks are developed in Asia as the only defensive mechanism as it is out of the question.

Apparently, the virus were already spraying out of Wuhan earlier.  There were lots of local US firms doing business there. One local businessman came back from Wuhan infected to his wife in San Benito County, Ca but it was quickly contained. The county actually opened up last week.  There were 3 barber shops opened. Two had a 2 weeks waiting time to get a hair cut. I drove to the only first-come, first-serve barber waited at 7:55 AM with my clean room smocks, facial mask, and surgical gloves inside my car. The barber told me he had been out of work over 3 months taking up hiking near Big Surf weekly looking at empty Pebble Beach golf course below and watched the Pacific Ocean.  What a life to be on a 3-month vacation!

We have an equestrian trails(total 5 paths) that were underutilized.  The horses were hard to maintain. Now I see neighbors not seen for over 10 years walking and active. Most horses intended have been replaced by electric Tesla iron horses.

What do you do if you are all under confined at your residence? Gardening. I bought a few bags of seeds. The package says broccoli. They look more like they were mis-labled.

We are enjoying the mild summer and I start seening more traffic.  This is not to say break out is over. Found out a fish process plant had 34 workers tested positive. A couple of senior homes here and there reported and it sounds scary.  I only hope people are safe and we will be over with this epidemic.

I have been through a global epidemic flu which I did not know much but followed our teacher instructions wearing masks and wash our hands. As I recall our teacher was out among 2/3 of the students with almost empty classrooms.  There were a few students who did not return.  Here in the US President ordered government aid and that wild duck virus break out caused over 100,000 death in the US then.  The girl sat behind me left for Holland and ended up as teen actress in HK.

Glad to hear you fared well during these crazy times.  So what did you end up growing instead of broccoli?  A

We are back to the basics. When Jimmy Stewart retired in Beverely Hill , he bought next door home made gardening his passion.  He gave tomatos to his movie fans who stopped. There is nothing more fresh than home grown vegetables.

Seeing people out walking and exercising that you haven't seen do that in over 10 years is definitely one positive thing that is coming from this terrible time in the world.

Hi Sam Shueh, there were some positives resulted from the mandatory stay-at-home orders. I don't have a green thumb nor do I enjoy gardening, I wish I did.

If it is not broccoli, what do you think it is?  Whatever it is, I hope it tastes as good as the broccoli would have.  You stay safe and healthy too!

Sam well you figured out how to keep yourself occupied during the shut down. Growing something, just no brocoli.  And I'm with you on hiking by Pebble Beach. Fabulous way to spend every day!

I just watered the plants in my front yard that I had repositioned and planted with new ones a month ago. Adding new decorative bark and solar lights, I must say looks great. I probably wouldn't have taken the time to complete this project without Covid 19, so, hopefully, a vaccine will be produced soon so we can all  go back to our lifestyles. Good luck with your vegetable garden.
