The crystal ball says....

There is a saying that the best laid plans of mice and men oft go astray. I am not sure who said that originally, but I had plans and then ...well you know that part.

 

Yesterday, we had two major storms come through our area. I was without power most of the day and night. This morning I had to drop off a check to my office, and swing by a client who has a home inspection scheduled for today. Three trees had come down and they have no power and no likelihood of any power other than their generator till tomorrow. The inspector is so busy, the buyer's agent does not want to delay the inspection. I stopped by to see how it looked. Well, it was hard to get to their house as so many roads are blocked off due to downed trees. I saw one homeowner's shed completely demolished. Trees lying on power lines, wires down lying in the road. 

 

Today, their is a march planned to show support for those protesting against the death of George Floyd. Not sure if it will be delayed due to our first responders being stretched thin with responding to people from the storm.

 

None of us ever knows what the future holds, what the crystal ball, or even the Magic 8 ball really says. One way I look at life is to see it as a sailing boat, sometimes there are storms, wild waves, other times calms and light winds with blue skies. After a storm, you may have got blown off course, and need to make some adjusments to the tiller or the set of the sails. But, it doesn't necessarily change your destination.

 

However, you do need to know your destination and where you are going and why?

 

My plan was to move back to Europe and renew my dealing in antiques, with Brexit happening I had a limited time to achieve that, only till the end of this year can I settle in a European country as a British citizen with European rights. I do not wish to move back to the UK. Now with the virus, that plan has been adjusted. With borders closed, it does not look as if that plan is going to be possible. So, I am readjusting. 

 

I am going to stay in the US, continue with my real estate career, but travel often to Europe, whenever I can, enjoying the different lifestyle and look for antiques I can sell over here. Maybe, I will offer trips to others guiding them through the places I know that will provide them with the opportunity to purchase what they like.

 

Not my original plan, but it works, it may even be better than the original plan, makes sense and allows me to still enjoy my life, be present and be happy.
