Zoomin' With ActiveRain and Ken Jones
The Tuesday Zoom call was on creating a Podcast and was hosted by Debb Maxwell. The presented was Kenneth (Ken) Jones who currently works as a Real Estate Investment Consultant but has been a licensed real estate broker and Certified Appraiser. He has been working in the business since the early 1970's and has developed and evolved his marketing and sales abilities into what he does today.
He made this Zoom meeting a How To for anyone interested in doing podcasts and was most gracious in demonstrating how one would be set up, what type of equipment would be needed, techniques with equipment and scripts to make a professional podcast and even what platforms to seek to host the podcast.
It was an interesting 45 minutes, and what made it more pleasant to myself was the Zoom screen with the participants from ActiveRain which made it the closest thing to being part of what we used to know as RainCamps. (Only without the handshakes and hugs).
Ken offered a step by step approach to setting up a podcast. Starting out with what to discuss and the manner in which it should be prepared. People are quick to recognize the real deal when it comes to presentations and the information offered should come from someone who delivers it with knowledge and sincerity. That was the feeling we got in listening to him make his presentation.
It ws also offered that having a solid plan for the podcast would help as well. This requires a firm grasp of the subject matter, which also connects to the audience one would wish t reach. Then there's the frequency of the podcast; day and time of day. It should seldom be live and it would also be beneficial to have several completed podcasts ready to go to avoid a last minute rush which could discredit the caster.
The set up needs to be professional but that does not men it would cost a great deal. Ken offered options for setting up the podcast that could be done for as little as $300 to a more solid system costing around $900. These would be the various components such as a microphone, mike support; headphones, air filter to make the sound professional,
The software for the podcast need not be expensive and many apps are available free, Garageband being one. The type of computer being used determine the software but the larger brands have free software available.
The final part of the podcast would be the host platform, and Ken shared 3 possibilities .
Th screen shots he use in his presentation were all professional as was the manner in which he delivered same.
Ken is a very down to earth guy and for anyone looking to get more familiar with his work you need only hop onto his website, Jones Real Estate Consulting and look at some of his previous podcasts.
This being my first ever Zoom, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy to join and the ease with which I could check out the attendees and also actively participate in the meeting should I have chosen to interject.
I will definitely check in on another meeting in the near future and was very happy to learn a bit today as well.
