Good morning, Brad... the closest I've come to living in a gated community is in doorman coops in New York City... and I liked it. I could leave town for weeks without locking my door and nothing would be disturbed. We don't have a lot of gated communities in the Charlotte area... when we gate a community the roads become private and the cost to maintain them is passed on to the homeowners. People just don't want that expense. Fortunately, on the whole, Charlotte is a safe area.

We lived in one prior to being here. It was nice in some ways, no traffic from looky loos, but much prefer our rural home and situation. We live in a very safe area, so it's not security concerns for most.
