Pictured above is one the biggest and tallest pyracantha bushes we have seen in California. We visit this one annually as it is now starting to bloom and will be complete around Mid-March.
Pyracantha is a genus of large, thorny evergreen shrubs in the family Rosaceae, with common names firethorn or pyracantha. They are native to an area extending from Southwest Europe east to Southeast Asia. They resemble and are related to Cotoneaster, but have serrated leaf margins and numerous thorns. Wikipedia
It is well located in a picnic area behind wine tasting rooms in Los Olivos. This shows one of the entry ways to the park. The bush is enormous as it spans to the back of buildings behind it.
We will revisit it in Mid-March and take another photo of it. Happy Friday, wishing everyone a lovely day and a great weekend to follow.
