Pizzeria Mozza - The Best PIZZA in Los Angeles

By

I absolutely love pizza - so I decided I needed to find the "Ultimate Pizza in Los Angeles".

After eating at many, many pizzerias from Hollywood to Santa Monica, I am happy to report that I have finally found the most delicious, most flavorful, best crust, tastiest ingredients, and overall satisfying pizza available in Los Angeles: Mozza Pizzeria - 641 N Highland Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90038 (at the corner of Melrose) - Phone: (323) 297-0101

Celebrity chef Mario Batali, business partner Joe Bastianich, and Nancy Silverton of La Brea Bakery have created the very finest Pizza in Los Angeles. But this is no ordinary pizza - rather an unusual culinary delight.

Their deserts are unique and also unbelievably delicious.

Reservations are highly recommended to avoid a long wait - but I suggest sitting at the bar where the knowledgeable bar tender can assist you with your choice of an excellent Italian wine to compliment your pizza.

Note: The best pizza I've ever tasted outside of Italy can be found in Waitsfield, Vermont - at a family run restaurant called "American Flatbread".

They make outstanding Pizzas with organic wheat. (My favorite is the "Punctuated Equilibrium" which has kalamata olives, roasted sweet red peppers, goats cheese and garlic. I also add some of their delicious sun-dried tomatoes).

Flatbread founder, George Schenk, writes a weekly dedication to be included in the menus which provides "Food for Thought" for the customers.

I highly recommend a visit when you're in the area - but be prepared for a wait - there's always a line to get in.

What people have said about MOZZA (from customers who posted on the internet)

"The minute our waiter sat the pie down on the table, we were hit with the aroma of fresh basil....it was intoxicating. The pizza was thin in the center and absolutely bulbous with air bubbles around the perimeter. We dug right in and yes- it was truly the best pizza I'd ever eaten in my life".

"Hot spot? Mozza is on fire."

"The butterscotch pudding was seriously out of this world; I could have died and gone to heaven after the first bite".

Stewart: We have been meaning to try Mozza. I am a die hard Nancy Silverton fan and jones for La Brea Bakery bread if we don't have any in the house. I was very excited to see that she was opening Mozza. I'm sure the crust is to die for.

Thanks for posting this and the reminder to get over to Mozza and check it out.

Have you ever tried the pizza at Angeli on Melrose? They have been around for a while and I used to love to eat there when I lived closer.sesban

I've heard wonderful things about Mozza Pizzeria. I also absolutely LOVE the pizza at Village Pizzeria on Larchmont Street in Hancock Park and I agree with Mario about Casa Bianca. It's amazing. (A new Pizzeria opened up in Eagle Rock recently called Brownstone Pizzeria & it's very good as well)

I like pizza the way the Italians make it. Lots of fresh ingredients, herbs and like crust is it like that.

Pizza is a good choice for dining with clients and celebrating occassions.  Mario's touch is restaurant pizzaz.  Thanks, JP

I was back at Mozza after my Open House this past weekend.

Superb as usual.

I had the best dessert - "Caramel copetta with spanish peanuts"  - mouthwatering marshmallow creme topped with salted peanuts over a bed of caramel ice cream.

Stewart, thanks for this dining tip!  I'm now craving a slice.  If you like Italian food, but want something more along the lines of pasta, be sure to try Alejo's in Marina del Rey.  If you haven't been, don't let the outside decor fool you.  It's worth the trip!  One suggestion: maybe avoid some of the more garlic-rich dishes before meeting up with the clients, though.  Eat well!

Sounds like my old stomping grounds where I went to Hollywood High School on Highland & Sunset. Now I live in No. Ca. but my son lives in W. LA. We will have to try it the next time I visit. Thanks

That sounds so good. I have two other recommendations:  Paoli's in Woodland Hills has an amazing alfredo pizza and North Beach Pizza in San Francisco has the best pesto pizza. They are both soooo delicious! Enjoy!!!

This evening I took a friend who was visiting from Chicago to Mozza for dinner. Sitting beside us at the bar, was Yeardly Smith - the voice of Lisa Simpson from the Fox cartoon hit series- The Simpsons. What a terrifiic lady ... she gave my friend a big hug and chatted for a while.

He was thrilled, and could hardly wait to fly home to share this encounter with his friends.

By the way, the pizza at Mozza was magnificent as usual, as was the delicious Italian wine.

They have a great selection to choose from - with a maximum price of $50 a bottle. It was so good, we landed up ordering two bottles.

I have heard and read such wonderful things about Pizzeria Mozza! I guess I'm going to have to go soon... Another great place for pizza (although not so fancy) is Village Pizzeria on Larchmont.
