Save Your Clients Money

"Florida law requires insurance companies to offer homeowners discounts or credits for existing building features or home improvements that reduce damage and loss from hurricanes.  Florida insurance companies are required to file these discounts with the Office of Insurance Regulation.

With the outrageous cost of homeowners insurance, you can save your clients money by recommending a wind mitigation inspection. Homes built after 2001 should receive a discounted rate on their insurance wind premium automatically. If you have any questions about anything home related call anytime. I'm here to help.

Dear Matt,

The mitigation discounts are a smart way to save money as you have pointed out.

However, as you know, all Florida homeowner insurance companies are not created equal when it comes to discounts.  Some discount very little while others offer huge discounts.

Anyway, I just found a new website that helped me find companies offering giantic discounts for wind mitigation called The Home Insurance Buyers Guide:

www.homeinsurancebuyers.org

The Buyers Guide shows 21 Florida homeowner insurance companies still writing new business in Brevard County.  Insurance agents were leading me to believe that no one was writing new business in Brevard.

I also liked the fact tha the Buyers Guide actually rates each of these 21 companies on a scale of 1-10 which gave me a good sense of the companies that were well capitalized with good customer service.

Anyway, if you have a chance, check it out.  It's already been in the news and we will be hearing a lot more about this site.
