Inner Sunset, San Francisco, CA

Community and Real Estate Information

Inner Sunset, Central Sunset, and Outer Sunset are the three sectors of the Sunset District, which is San Francisco's largest neighborhood. The neighborhood is the most populous in the city, with the most people and households, and is an excellent choice for families seeking a new home in the area. South of Golden Gate Park, west of 19th Avenue, west of Cole Valley, north of Forest Hill, and northwest of Midtown Terrace is the Inner Sunset area. The neighborhood is centrally placed, just a short drive from the city's business, leisure, and commercial districts. The Inner Sunset District is mostly made up of residential communities, with two hillside subdivisions thrown in for good measure. The suburban city streets of this neighborhood are lined with row houses and apartment buildings of various forms and construction. With parks and hiking trails strewn across the area and a variety of cafes, restaurants, and retailers lining the district's main streets, residents have easy access to wonderful recreational opportunities.

The classic row homes that line the neighborhood's lovely suburban streets are the most common housing type in the Sunset District. Home construction began in the early 1900s for Victorian-era homes, followed by Edwardian homes in the 1920s, and a variety of other home types over the years. There are a lot of triplex and duplex housing units that are intended to be rented out. Apartments and condos are also readily available, giving excellent housing options for people seeking a low-cost San Francisco domicile. Golden Gate Heights to the southwest and Forest Knolls to the southeast are the district's two hillside neighborhoods. The first neighborhood is centered around Golden Gate Heights Park, which has the same name. Forest Knolls was designed to complement the Mt Sutro Open Space Reserve, with several portions of the subdivision providing panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. The reserve itself has hard hiking trails, as well as attractive woodland areas and spectacular views.

Important Considerations

It's a bit of an adventure from San Francisco's more lively neighborhoods. A lot of the houses in the area are a little worn down.
