Community and Real Estate Information

River Oaks is a predominantly residential area in Houston's western reaches. Memorial Park to the north, Upper Kirby to the south, Uptown to the west, and Shepherd Drive to the east are all notable places that border the neighborhood. Its central position allows easy access to major thoroughfares such as Westheimer Road, Kirby Drive, and San Felipe Street. The brothers' Will and Mike Hogg, along with Hugh Potter, created River Oaks. They initially bought and developed the property around the River Oaks Country Club Estates in 1923, and then bought the land on all sides afterward. As a result, River Oaks began to take shape. From 1926 until 1947, the River Oaks Country Club Estates included an additional 1,100 acres of land known as River Oaks. River Oaks became Houston's affluent neighborhood due to the founders' meticulous planning, uncompromising deed restrictions, and construction rules.

Stately mansions, large Victorian residences, and a mix of single-family homes, condominiums, and townhomes can all be found at River Oaks. Contemporary, French, Mediterranean, Spanish, Traditional, and other designs such as American Colonial and English Tudor are incorporated into the architectural style. The typical sale price for a single-family home is above $2,500,000, $500,000 for townhouses, and $200,000 to $5,000,000 for condominiums. River Oaks houses range in size from four to five bedrooms, ranging from 3,000 to more than 10,000 square feet. The most costly ones include 6 to 9 bedrooms and 12,000 to 16,000 square feet of living space. The townhouses and condominiums include two to four bedrooms and two to three full baths, with living areas ranging from 1,000 to more than 2,500 square feet.
