Friday Photo: A Perfect Gardenia

By

This was a delightful sight of a just opened gardenia greeted us today at lunch.  It grows by the high top table where we like to sit under an arbor at Lucky's.

We had not been there for several weeks, and Bruno, our favorite waiter, greeted us like long lost friends.  The food was great as usual, and it was good time to be appreciative of all the good things in our lives.  We always count our Lucky Stars at Lucky's.

Wishing Everyone a Fabulous Friday and a great Weekend!

When I was a kid, we had several gardenia plants in our yard.  I miss them.  I hope you have a delightful weekend, Alexandra.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - I think every gardener should grow a gardenia plant if the conditions are right for their zones. I planted one years ago. I don't always get the results I want but when it shows up, my nose knows and it is the most beautiful flower I ever saw on that particular opening day. Your photograph is gorgeous!

Morning Alexandra.

Can't argue with that, of course it has been awhile since I've seen one

Hello Alexandra and Ron: there is a paper mache-like look to this gardenia.  Indeed a fortunate find.

Good morning, Alexandra... that gardenia is the definition of perfection! It's so perfect it almost doesn't look real (but I'll take your word for it).

Isn't it wonderful to be greeted like a long lost friend? We went out to a new restaurant last night (new to us) and there were several people who came in and were greeted like that. Our server Rebecca made a point of learning OUR names and delivered our food with a "Here you go Kat!" or "Here you go Anthony!"

Kat Palmiotti it is wonderful to be greeted.  On Wednesday, we hade a biz meeting in Los Angeles.  After that we went to one of our favorite restaurants.  We did several restaurant deals for him and his friends.  There were lots of hugs, and warm feelings exchanged. A

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP We have too much sun, so they have not done well. In Los Angeles, I had 20 bushes and they around the eaves of our home, and they all did well.  I had a constant flow of them.  They are finicky, and the nursery guys told me that they are high iron feeders.  At least once a month they had be treated with iron.  A

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - I only have one Garndenia bush that I planted under the eaves and it is shaded by taller bushes. I'm not seeing any evidence of life and I think I'll continue to wait and see. That ice storm we had in TX created lots of problems. I noticed three trees on my property are not looking good. Although they all bloomed, it doesn't appear they are in healthy condition and they are fading fast before my eyes. It pains me to see that. Still in all, when it comes to gardenias, it's worth the effort to at least try. Thanks for sharing what your nursery had to say about iron. I'll check with my local nursery to determine whether or not there's hope.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP I know the feeling of a plant dying.  We happened to have saved a hibiscus, even though a gopher made a route through it and munched some roots.  We covered the route with large rocks. We have almost given up on it, because the leaves were so small.  We persevered and I fed it, and lo and behold blooms started to appear.  It has bloomed like crazy, and still continues to do that.  I wish your trees and gardenias well.  A
