Have You Experienced a Forest Bath?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Beam & Branch Realty TREC #547752

While I was visiting Colorado last week, I heard for the first time about a practice that originated in Japan called Shinrin Yoku or, Forest Bathing. The premise is to simply slow down and soak in the elements of the forest or the nature that surrounds you.

The basics include:

1. Put away your phone.

2. Focus on every sight, sound, smell, texture, temperature, and the elements.

3. Take a mental snapshot of what you are experiencing.

4. Focus on something new and examine it.

5. BREATHE! Enjoy the moments.

Science shows that engaging in Forest Bathing actually decreases your blood pressure, bathes your cells in a natural healing environment, and re-sets your brain.

So get out there and go for a walk in nature! Your body and your mind will thank you! Enjoy!

It's been a long time since I've slowed down. Today is my one day off this week! And I'm relaxing, though I haven't been to a forest; I know it can be helpful.

Pat Starnes-Front Gate Realty - make sure and care for yourself. And, it doesn't have to be a forest - any area of nature will work. The main thing is to take the time to get outside and de-stress!

Morning Paula.

Rarely do I stop and enjoy all the wonders that surround me.  When I do, I also wonder why I don't do it more often.

Hello Paula - I have heard of this practice.  It's one that can definitely be interpreted as part of a regular refreshment program for better living.

One of the reasons I like to swim at my health center a little after dawn is I kind of get that forest bath sensation.  The pool is quiet that time of the day.  And, there is a grove of Coast Redwoods that line the edge of the pool complex!

I've not heard it called that before however I have done it and it recharges the mind, body, and soul.

Last Friday and did something similar at a very isolated beach. Only used my phone to take photos.

Hi Paula I did respond to your facebook post about this but it wouldn't let me leave the amazing photo I wanted to share.  It's too late to do so tonight.  I will do my best tomorrow to share it...along with a few thoughts that fit your subject perfectly!
