Enjoy, Download and Share this Free NASA E-Book for National Aviation Day on August 19
For 82 years, August 19 has been celebrated yearly as National Aviation Day.
Franklin D. Roosevelt made the first presidential proclamation to celebrate National Aviation Day on August 19, 1939.
This date was chosen as it's the birth date of civil aviation pioneer Orville Wright. The Wright Brothers, Orville and Wilbur, famously flew what's historically accepted as the first flying machine.
NASA reports that National Aviation Day is the "biggest day in flight" each year. As part of the annual celebration, NASA offers a free downloadable e-book "High Flyers Alphabet Activity Book " designed for children in grades K-2.
Be aware the book has an index with other info and links for educators to use, so the first few pages won't interest young kiddos. The High Flyers Alphabet Activity Book pages include a variety of aviation-themed things to keep children occupied, including object matching, connecting the dots and counting items.
To learn more about flight, aviation and NASA, local libraries have additional free, downloadable aeronautics e-books from NASA. Use this NASA e-books link for free downloads, check the library's electronic resources or ask a librarian for assistance.
Thanks for reading "Free NASA E-Book for Aviation Day August 19".
