Welcome to the 22nd Century

By
Real Estate Agent with DFW FINE PROPERTIES 0506509

December 22, 2021 is the first day of the 22nd Century. We leave the past behind but will never forget the lessons we learned. Now is the time to move into a new era. How will you make things better?

Taking responsibilities begins every new day. We choose, decide, take action, and make discoveries about ourselves, our hopes, and dreams. There are those who came before us that inspired us to do great things or make improvements. One such lady was Eleanor Roosevelt.

"Somewhere along the line of development we discover

what we really are, and then we make our real decision for which

we are responsible. Make that decision primarily for yourself

because you can never really live anyone else's life,

not even your own child's. The influence you exert is through

your own life and what you become yourself."

---Eleanor Roosevelt

To live today is a gift of life. As the end of the year 2021 becomes nearer, and the New Year is about to begin, we look around today and ask, what have I done and how can I make things better? I have come to the conclusion there is no new normal. Myla Angelou said it best:

"If you try to be normal you will never know how

amazing you can be." ---Myla Angelo

We can look back at our lives, where we were, what did we do, who were we with, and think about our fond memories, such as this last great vacation for me. But the question is what have I learned and what will I do about it now? This photograph was taken the last time I went to Switzerland. The old stone building survived and so did I. Where will I be tomorrow?

A dream home is something many people think about. No matter what state the economy is in today, will new construction be better, safer, better insulated, will it fly away in a tornado or stay grounded? Will my dream house be fine enough to live in without wishing and hoping for something better?

Or will people decide for themselves, it's okay to live in an older dwelling and bring it up to code and higher standards because yesterday's materials were of a quality you can't get today?

Will you be satisfied with the infrastructure, medical facilities in easy reach, schools, grocery stores, food and vegetables, transportation, the distance between you and your loved ones, or are there concerns about the town or the community's future?

Some of the finest architects built homes to last and have lived for many centuries before we were born. I guess one must ask themselves, will I be comfortable moving in, "as is," without lifting a finger or are there enough creative juices to stimulate my mind to create a home of my dreams using yesterday's technology with jaw-dropping new innovations that didn't exist when this old house was originally built?

Whether you live in a dream house someone else constructed or you did yourself, will you appreciate how you live, where you live, and what you can do to live a better life. Whether your dreams are big or small, there are at least a few things to consider because they are always part of the equation in decision-making

  • Can you afford it today, later, and after taxes & insurance goes up?
  • Will you have enough resources if the money stops?
  • What are your risks and can you recover?
  • Will you continue to save your money?

There is nothing perfect about home ownership, it's how you live your life and where you live, and what you do with your life that makes a difference. Welcome to the 22nd Century. May you have the power to make dreams come true and improvise as needed ---Patricia Feager, Author of this blog post on 12/22/2021

Good morning, Patricia... another one of your wonderfully thought-out and written posts to which I have nothing to add... you've said it all and beautifully, at that.

Hello Patricia - one year ends and with that another begins.  Will it be a time which many things are repeated, or will it be filled with so many new adventures that only memories of the past are "present"?  Questioning continues. . .

Nina Hollander, Broker - your positive feedback helps me to become a better person. Thank you.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - I have pondered those two words "new normal" too long and realized Myla Angelo was ahead of her time. She passed away in 2014, at the age of 86, BEFORE the recent pandemic. Her eyes saw many changes and she left us clues about how to live, think, and become who we ought to be.

Michael Jacobs - It may take some getting used to the idea that we are no longer in the 21st century, but we'll get there! Change is always about transformation. Is anyone on a normal journey in life?  My question is how can we embrace the rough roads we travel when the smooth ones don't exist? Can we get over the hurdles and sing alleleuia, or is there always one more ocean to swim, one more mountain to climb, and one  more step to take?

Raymond Henson, eXp Realty - I'm very glad we connected and had that talk while I was sitting in a park waiting until the coast was clear to get back home because the roofers were driving me nuts. You called. I answered and you made everything okay for me. Sometimes when you need a friend, you don't even know it until the friend shows up. I know now that dreams and work that needs to be done doesn't happen like magic! I know that knowing geography is important to learn. I now ActiveRain is filled with an array of friends who come into our lives, when we need a friend. Thank you.

Kat Palmiotti - Brian England I took many walks with my daughter through farmland roads with interesting animals and building structures. Most of the dwellings were built in the 17th century! This dwelling with me leaning on the front door is actually a grocery store. It was closed but later I did get to go inside. There never is a storekeeper and the door stays open for business during certain hours. You would find carrots, fresh garlic, eggs, onions, potatoes, etc. Near the door inside is a basket to leave your money or write down your name if you can't afford to pay. To live in a world where people trust is other worldly. Yes! I was very, very happy!

Kat Palmiotti - to live in a world that trusts would mean less people go hungry, less people to less likely to steal, less greed, less stress, more kindness, more opportunities to give back, and more reasons to be grateful. This way of life provides more nourishment for body, mind, and soul.
