Liz, I love this Croatian post. I knew where Croatia was of course, but didn't know about the tuna, pickles, Roger Maris, Vanna White, Fred Couples, Dalmations, Zinfandel, pencil/pens, hot water bottle, Tesla and all the other connections. Wow. I say I read a lot. I think you live in the library. How do you know so much? Such great depth on this subject. The architecture, people, and beauty of the country was good in your selected video too. You are amazing with what you find.

I also saw the handball World team and Olympic champs on the list. I used to play that in college. I wonder how they got so good at it in Croatia? They must start young in that sport.

Liz - this Croatia post is very interesting - fancy the hot water bottle being invented by a Croatian! I always thought it was invented in the UK as everyone used to have them there :) I remember once being told that Dubrovnik is a wonderful place to visit, but so far I haven't managed to see it. Thanks for the tip regarding posts - I appreciate it! Cheers!

Gary..I saw the Croatian Olympic handball time arrive back home right after winning the Gold Medal in the Olympics -when I was visiting Croatia......they had a bus and parked it in the central square in Zagreb...........needless to say it was packed and charged! They stood on top of the bus and threw out Croatian t-shirts, flashed their medals..........and all around it was pretty exciting........Yep handball is big there, right next to soccer! lol

I love learning about other places -- especially having been raise in geography deprived America. Thank goodness, my kids are learning about the entire world, not just the "West." Croatia has made some magnificent contributions -- a personal thank you from me to Croatia for Tesla's radio, Roger Maris, and Zinfandel grapes (yum!). I hear the beaches are spectacular. Thanks, Liz!
