Artwork at Jackson Square

Colorful and Local Artist

New Orleans artists have been selling their artwork at Jackson Square since the 1920's.  Each day of the week you can find them along the walkways of Jackson Square and in front of Saint Louis Catherral.  Wrought iron fences of Jackson Square, you can find artists who meet each day.

There, you can have your portrait or caricature done and view the artists at work.  Artists also paint and hang their artwork for display along the wrought iron fences.  You can find a large selection of artwork to choose from including that of New Orleans historical landmarks.

There are also various street performers who perform there daily.  Musicians, mimes, tap dancers, jugglers, tarot card readers, and a brass band arrive there daily to entertain the crowds in Front of Jackson Square.

Hello Eric... this reminds me of the days I lived in Paris. There's a square on the Nevsky Prospekt in St Petersburg, Russian where artists "hang out" this way, as well. I've purchased a number of pieces from these artists over the years and have several hanging in my office. Whenever I'm in St Petersburg, it's one of the first places I visit just to see if there's a gem I might want to pick up.
