When it comes to service industries, getting to know others and making people feel comfortable around you is incredibly important.

That's why, today we've got 5 easy ways to get to know someone quickly. You don't always have months to build a relationship. Sometimes it's that first 10 minutes that makes all the difference.

1. Ask Questions

First, and foremost, you must get them talking. If it's for something specific, they can talk about that topic. Be sure to ask follow up questions to dig deeper than the initial responses.

Or use this 21 questions game as a guide to delve into a variety of topics. You'll learn more about their personal life which makes people feel far more connected (and eager to do business).

2. LISTEN

Most people only half listen because they are too busy thinking out their responses. Be different. Listen with the intent to REMEMBER and talk a lot less yourself. It means you are giving your full attention to the person and trust me, they'll notice.

3. Remember

Knowing small and large details of a person's life makes them feel important. Because you were truly listening, you'll know these things! Say their name, ask deeper questions about their interests or kids, and show that you remember what is important to them.

Note: Write it down when you get home if you have to!

In Conclusion

These are simple actions that get lost in the fast-paced technology world we live in. But the truth remains the same: relationships run businesses. If you build better relationships, you'll build a better business.

Good luck!

Good morning! I think "care" could be the overarching theme - if we care, we'll listen, ask questions, and remember.
