Being a REALTOR® we are asked all kinds of questions about the area we serve, in my case many more than most. Folks are moving The Villages, Florida from all over the “world”, yes world and not knowing too much about Central Florida they ask some very interesting questions many I need to research myself. Being a 55 and over community the normal questions about recreation, shopping, dining and entertainment I get my share of questions about golf, Pickleball and other activities.
I enjoy the questions not covered above like about alligators, people ask if they are walking up and down the streets, no, been here 11 years and only see them around our ponds and lakes. What about bugs? It’s Florida we have bugs and plenty of them. Hurricanes, actually in the Florida the two safest cities from hurricanes is Ocala and Leesburg and we are right between them! I got a new one the other day, birds!
I must admit I am not a bird watcher or know much about birds other than I have an eagle’s nest a few hundred yards behind my house and Sandhill Cranes are BIG. So, the research started, I Googled “The Villages, Florida birds” and found a great resource about birds from The Villages Birders Club they have spotted 86 different types of birds and also found a site with pictures and stories about our local birds. Share the links to the bird sites and ready for the next question, snakes, yes what do you want to know?
