Every time I begin to reflect upon life, I need to be challenged in a new setting. The Fort Worth Botanical Gardens was the place I chose on Friday,10/14 and as I continue with my weekend meditation journey, I realize sometimes it takes longer than just one sitting. I really need to be where my heart belongs, and the Botanical Gardens in Fall was perfect for what I needed.
As a REALTOR® I know people need to find that sense of belonging where they feel happiest and supported. I do believe that what I am doing to help others find their home and to make their own decisions are exactly what I was meant to be doing. For that reason, continuous education and meditation are weaved into my practice for business. In good conscious, I cannot let a good day go to waste, even when I am not conducting business. Honestly, a REALTOR® can build a client base and let it grow, but if the clients are not willing to start the process, the REALTOR® must stay motivated.
In addition to being motivated, I keep moving and meditating on life, people, location, and our connections to nature. Sometimes, I need a break because I am only human and that is where the magic happens. The view above is from sitting with a young couple under a Gazebo in the center of Japanese Gardens. They were a lovely couple with two young children. I watched the children and listened as the couple began to talk to me about real estate and even though, I did not say I was a REALTOR®, are you needing to buy or sell a home, I allowed nature to take its course and practice what a REALTOR® needs to do first. Listen. Do not pounce. Just listen.
The fruit of one's labor takes root through listening. By listening, I learned all I needed to know about this couple and was impressed by how much they learned about the real estate market during the past few years. They informed me how crazy the market was and how happy they were to buy a home two years ago with such a low interest rate. (They still did not know; I was a REALTOR®). I was impressed by how informed they were and happy for them because they achieved their goals. As a listener, I was content because they were content, and they did all the talking. I learned a lot by simply listening. All that was important to them now was to raise their family and take them to the beautiful places Fort Worth has to offer. Our time together was well spent. Practicing active listening focuses on them and their perspective and is beneficial to me when I make a connection with other couples wanting to buy property from their generation and who need advice.
My trip to the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens and Japanese Gardens was invigorating. The red maples were not destroyed by the pandemic, previous lockdowns, drought, or interference outside of their control. They kept growing and that is what people do. The beautiful Red Maples struck a passion in me to be thankful for seasonal changes to the market and to nature. Learning to read contracts is one thing; learning to read people is another skill. Everything I have and all that I learn, I am grateful.
I paused to write in my journal about all the things that dwells within me and what I learned from the people I meet in my life's journey. Insights are powerful tools and skills we build over time.
It is important to observe and evaluate from many different angles. I thought a lot about the couple I met and their two children, one a toddler having fun exploring just a few feet away from her parents, and the other sitting on her father's lap. Respect for others is the greatest gift sales agents can give and the second is to listen. People are more willing to share when there is no pressure from a sales agent. Nature gives us many clues through the various seasons we go through in life. Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall teaches us, there really is a reason and a purpose for every season.
Our destiny is to learn more about who we are, why we are here, and how do we relate to others. Walking through a Japanese Garden feels amazingly peaceful and calming. It is a place to get a Zen moment.
I hope this virtual tour of the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens inside the Japanese Gardens was as enjoyable for you, as it was thought-provoking and educational for me. Perhaps this is a sign, I just might meet you one day inside the Japanese Garden ---Patricia Feager
