The Title of Your Blog on Active Rain

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Motherhood Incorporated

by Shannon Penrod

Today I am talking about the title for your entire blog on Active Rain.  We posted a blog the other day about titling an individual blog entry and there was some confusion.  But since the title of an entire blog came up - let's talk strategy.

I notice a lot of people on AR title their blog with only their name.  That's okay if all you are blogging for is recreation.  But since I know that most of you are hoping that your blog will drive business, using just your name in your blog title is a MISSED OPPORTUNITY.

If you have not defined your niche in the real estate market, you need to - more blogs about that later.  If you have defined your niche, congratulations; now include your expertise in your blog title.  If you are the realtor that sells property in East Wallenda, then make sure that East Wallenda is in your blog title.  You can keep your name as well if you prefer.  Call your blog  John Q. Realtor's East Wallenda Realty News. Or something to that effect.  If it's not an area that you specialize in, but a type of real estate, feature the appropriate words.

Remember that when a prospective client sits down to the computer and types words into search engine, you want the words they type to lead them to you.  They aren't going to type in Pam's blog.  And even if they did, good luck finding yours in the sea of Pam's blogs.  However if they type in East Wallenda Real Estate - jackpot!  Your blog will come up.  This is just one way that you can drive business from the world to your blog and then to your door.  Don't miss the opportunity!  Change your blog name today!

Shannon - Great advise! That strategy should be applied not only to the title of your blog but your AR profile name. Our profiles, blogs, titles, keywords, and content all influence search engine results.

Best wishes and happy 4th!

Sandra,  I think it is important to use a title other than your name but I also think it is important to use keywords that relate to the industry.  Mine is Clarksville Mortgage Blog.

So, how did you come up with Motherhood Incorporated?  I don't get it as a Real Estate blog title and I am not sure other readers will either.  Sounds like it should be on the expected mother blogging site.  I am not trying to offend, I am only giving honest feed back.  As that is part of being on Active Rain.

You might want to review your advise from this article and revisit the effectiveness of you AR blog title.  I get what you are wanting to say but I think it might not hit its target.  Motherhood Incorporated might be a great name for an outside blog like Sarah Cooper's Putnam Scoop

Think it over and happy blogging.
