According to a survey conducted by the RentCafe subsidiary of the real estate software company Yardi Systems, the most competitive markets for renters in the United States are Florida and the Northeast.
Based on the study findings, Miami-Dade County had the most competitive market for renters. Orlando, Southwest Florida, and Broward County list the top 10 most competitive markets.
The city of Tampa came up at number 12 on the top 20!
The top 10 most demanding rental markets in the United States are as follows:

- Milwaukee – 93.7
- Central Jersey, N.J. – 95.3
- Rochester, N.Y. – 96.0
- Grand Rapids, Michigan – 100.7
- North Jersey, N.J. – 102.9
- Southwest Florida– 103.7
- Orlando– 104.9
- Harrisburg, Pa. – 106.3
- Miami-Dade– study “competitive score” of 114.5
Twelfth on the list, Tampa had an extremely competitive rental rating of 89.3
