I had seen them around town. They're rather hard to miss, these big red boxes with video touch screens.
I had no idea what they really were for, less alone how to use them or what to use them for.
Then, I was at a birthday party for a friend. That friend had a friend in town from Kansas.
Now, these Kansas folks had it going on. Not only did they know about the red box - they were using it.
The red box allows you to either go on line or just pull over in front of the darn thing, select a movie, swipe a credit or debit card and be on your way.
In a matter of seconds you can be watching a new release movie.
No more video rental hassles. No wondering if the movie is in stock - you can go to red box.com, select your location and do a check before even leaving the door. No kids asking for candy, magazines and games.
When you're done, return the movies to ANY red box location.
Perfect solution for people traveling - let the kids pick out a movie today and when they're tired of it tomorrow, find the nearest red box to return. For only a dollar a night, it's an inexpensive way to keep the kids occupied in the car. And, it saves on bringing a whole suitcase full of movies from home!
Here in Lebanon, MO we have two red box locations and in Marshfield, MO we have two as well. Check your McDonald's, as I do believe they are part owner in the red box concept. Has to make you ask, why didn't I think of that!
