What are you doing to save on gas consumption?

Golf CartWhen gas prices started to rise, minimization of gas usage became a priority.

I periodically check for the lowest gas prices in the area, at www.gaspricewatch.com

I have found that the Diamond Shamrock located at 13908 W Bell Rd in Surprise most frequently has the lowest priced gas in the area - especially if you live in Sun City West, Sun City Grand or in Surprise.

There are other alternatives to minimize gas usage.  Of course, if you live in Sun City, Sun City West or in Sun City Grand you can just drive a golf cart. But there are times that golf carts or motorcycles will not do, especially since driving a golf cart on Bell Road is not an option.

Carpooling, using the bus or mass transit systems will help in saving gas.  As Realtors®, we need to use our vehicles in performing our job.  Planning your trips in advance and making a trip route will save time and gas. Here are a few suggestions about car maintenance that also may decrease your gas consumption......

  • Keep your gas cap on.  Install a locking gas cap.  Loose or missing gas caps will result in gas vaporization.  Check out the seal on your gas cap each time you fill up.
  • Drive at the speed limit.  Don't be like the Lady from Pasadena and take off like lightening from a complete stop.  It costs 20 cents per gallon for every 5 miles driven at speed about 60 miles per hour.Smart Car
  • Consider driving a more economical car such as a "Smart Car".  Smaller cars are quite a commodity since they typically get more miles to a gallon of gas.

  • Replace your air filters.  It will save you on gas and protect your car engine.
  • Fill-up during the cool of the day.
  • Keep your car tires inflated at its proper levels.  Under-inflated tires can increase fuel usage by 6%.
  • Use better motor oil.  The high-performance or synthetic oil can improve fuel usage by 5%.
  • Maintain your car.  Follow the manufacturer's recommendations on tune-ups.  This can increase your car efficiency and decrease gas usage.

Can you think of other ways to increase your car's efficiency?

There was a time when anyone can easily afford the gas prices. but now it RISES day by day. for that we have an alternative according to my openion that use the bus or mass transit systems which will help in gas saving.

Steve, hopefully you will find something that you can comfortably use for your business. It's going to be challenging if you live out of your car like I do.

I am driving slower and taking advantage of downhill slopes to increase mileage.  I think it is working.
