One thing that really frustrates me is people who play sports and can't control their tempers! The guys at our church were in a state softball tournament this weekend and it didn't end very well. They lost their game on Friday but it was a very close game. Then they won their 1st game Saturday morning. We had a 2 hour break and then played our 2nd game. We were winning and playing a really good game and then one of the guys who always has a bad attitude on the field didn't like a call that the umpire made. He started fussing at the umpire and wouldn't stop so he got thrown out of the game! Then, because we didn't have any extra players they called the game and we ended up losing. The rule is you have to finish with the same number of players that you start with.
Anyway, to me and to lots of others who were there, this was very embarrassing! We were out there representing our church and most importantly we were representing God...earlier in the day three other guys almost got thrown out as well! Umpires may not be perfect, but they are in authority and as a player you cannot go out there and yell at or threaten them.
Anyone who plays sports must be able to maintain a good attitude whether the game is going good or bad! I just hate that we ended up losing because of someone not being able to control their temper...I know we could have done really well in the tournament, but it's too late to worry about it now!! My husband and I had already decided at the end of our normal seasons to retire from playing. The attitudes are just way too bad out there and especially after this incident we are glad that we're not going to be playing anymore!
