My wife and I both grew up in Hudson County. Lived there most of our lives. We travel around the state to different counties for various reasons. Last night we were invited to a fellow franchisee's 5th anniversary party at her house. Which was located all the way up in Sussex county. We left the office at 4:40 to head up, we had a stop to make in Westfield at the Choclate Bar(which is the best choclate covered fruit in the state,IMO). Well not usually travelling in that direction on a Friday night during the summer, we forgot all about the weekend getaway traffic. No big deal because the party wasn't starting till 7:00. We had a blast on the way up. The last 10 miles of the trip were so beautiful that the first 2 1/2 hours was worth it.
Then we got to the house. It was decorated in Red, White, Blue, Flags were everywhere. Gorgeous setting, peaceful, you couldn't even see the neighbors. We were assured that they are there. Once it got dark you could see all the stars. What was a shocker was when we were leaving, walking down the driveway you couldn't see the street where the cars were parked. Pitch black. No street lights, house lights, nothing.
The trip home was much shorter, only took us an hour and forty mins. When we first left the house a couple of times our GPS had trouble locating us. Karen got a little nervous, then we had some kind of bug in the car driving us crazy and there was no place to pull over. We finally got onto one of the main roads and pulled over. It was a daddy long leg spider, sorry to say with Karen stomping her feet to try to keep it off of her he met his demise under her foot.
We talked about how it was a nice place to visit, but would not be our kind of living. For those of you that live in what us city folk call the boondocks I applaud you. The lifestyle is much different, don't think I could do it long term. A weekend here and there or a week long vacation maybe. I'm sure you say the same about city life. That is why there are many different options.
The bottom line is that for friends I would do it anytime.
Sincerely,
Bill
