Support our troops/clients all the way to war zone!

We are a military town and as such have very close ties to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. My husband is currently deployed in Iraq (his third deployment) and I also have many friends and clients that are deployed. Some are past clients and some are clients I am currently working with.

I make it a point to send out care packages to as many of them and as often as I can. When the war first began, everybody was concerned about it. There were churches, schools and other organizations geting together to prepare care packages for our deployed soldiers. Not anymore! It is a shame! Our soldiers still need our support and care just as they did when this war first started! I know the military families and organizations still continue to work on this, but the rest of the population seems to have forgotten about it! It is not their fault for being there! So, make a note to yourself to do something about it next time you get a chance. Make your next giving - a gift to a lonely, hot, tired, and home sick soldier. Call upon your office colleagues to make one care box per office and send it to Iraq or Afghanistan! It will lift their spirits! ... and yours too!

Keep up the good work and stay strong. It is people like you and your husband who's sacrifices afford us the luxury of sitting here and being able to speak freely.

God bless you and your family.

Meli, care packages are certainly appreciated by all the Soldiers that are in harm's way.  We carry on the tradition as well as keep our friends in our prayers.

Thank you all for your support! It is not an easy job for the deployed man and women to be away from their families and loved ones, but it is just as hard on the families left behind! We pray that they are out of harm's way and return home safe!

Just going through some older posts and found this one.  First of all thank you to your husband for his service.  And thank you for your suggestion to remember our troops.  As a mom of a deployed soldier I can attest that those care packages and letters from home keep them going day after day.  Fifteen months is a long time to be deployed.  Let's keep those care packages going.

Meli, having turned from a Soldier to a Soldier's wife (I got to double-dip), I can tell you we have a lot of caring citizens in the Bragg area.  Businesses and parents, inside and outside of the area, do a great job getting involved in making sure our military get the comforts of home when they can't be there.  We have trained Family Readiness Groups (FRG) who make sure all areas are covered for the family members left behind.  It is a difficult job but we are getting it right since we seem to deploy constantly. Thanks for your post.

Great post! We do need to keep those men & women fresh in our minds. Many without friends or family & would love a care package. I sympathize w/you as my husband is over there as well.

Thank you ladies for keeping our men and women in uniform in your hearts and in your minds! I know for most people this is an OLD war, but for the families that continue to get bad news about their loved ones getting wounded and still dying in Iraq and Afghanistan it is real and painful! Keep them and their families in your prayers!

Meli:  It is nice to remind us all that our loved ones are still there fighting for our freedom!  Your husband is a TRUE SOLIDER, who is on his third deployment (there are some who are in the US Armed Forces and never have gone).  With the holidays coming up it would be great for local MLS boards to encourage the Real Estate Offices to put together care packages to send overseas.  Hope all is well up in the Fort Campbell area.

Hi Michelle! Thank you for stoping by my blog! I can't say enough about our guys and the families as well. I am a mother of three, and I have to say that it gets pretty hard at times to manage the business and the family as a single parent (we realtors do not have a 9-5 job). I am so looking forward to having my husband back and the kids are counting the days in their little calendar. We miss him very much and look forward to having him back just in time for the holidays. For all of the people out there remembering our troops in harms way, please, do not forget the families left behind. They can use your prayers and support as well!

Meili... Great post.. It seems these days that the public doesn't think about the small things that could make a BIG difference in the lives of our men and women in uniform.
