I Now Have a "Loaner" Phone...

By
Real Estate Agent with St. Charles County, Missouri - Prudential Alliance Realtors

What type of cell phone do you have?  I have a Samsung SGH T-429 with T-Mobile.  Well, that's the phone I've had for 5 months now...  Until it just stopped working.  All I could get was a screen that said, "Samsung SGH T-429"!

I tried not to panic.  After all, my cell phone is only my lifeline to everything important in my life: My family, my extended family, my clients, my associates...  Panic?

I kept calling my voicemail from a different phone to make sure I didn't miss anything...

Thankfully, when I took it back to where I bought it, they gave me a loaner phone (that is completely different than my other phone) and said that my new phone should be mailed to me by Friday.  Not too bad...

Now, if I can just figure out how to answer it...  :)

I am getting rid of my "loaner phone" tomorrow.  I hated the loaner.  I can't wait for my old new phone to come in.

Debi - Hopefully you have your cell phone database/phone book fully backed up so that you can simply do a sync and be back in business in no time.  This is a feature that I have enjoyed and the new iPhone has a wipe feature where you can wipe your phone remotely if lost.  The technology and what new features are available continues to amaze me.

Russ - I know how you feel.  This is a new experience for me, and it is rather unsettling...  :)

Sam - I think all my phone numbers are on the SIM card.  I am interested in the iPhone, though.  I think I have to wait until the price comes down...  :)

Debi,

Cells phones are guaranteed to break. It's just a matter of when. A couple of weeks ago I had 3 but that was the first replacement since Decemeber. My wife and son love their iPhones - $199 at AT&T with 2-year contract. :)

I have a Palm Treo and a Motorola Krzr. The Treo is a replacement under warranty. The earpiece cracked and they sent me a new phone. The Verizon Wireless store tech guys were able to copy my contact list to the new phone with no problems.

I can't get an iPhone until it is compatible as a Supra Key...  But, my T-Mobile MDA is a pretty good tool.  And all of my info from the phone is back-ed up on my Tablet PC...

Steve - I'm glad they like their iPhones.  Maybe they won't break like other phones...  :)

Rich - There are so many choices out there...  I wish there was a phone that had email, MLS, internet, quality camera, quality video, gps, bluetooth, and supra capabilities.  Maybe there is something out there, and I don't know about it.  It would probably be very expensive, though.  :)

Debi... Didn't your cell phone fall into liquid a few months back?  Or am I getting that confused with someone else?  Cell phones with external antennas are the best if you can find them any more.

Lane - I like the fact that you can back it up on your PC.  I can't do that.  :)

Debi- I cant imagine having to go without my phone that long.  It has all my contacts, numbers, opens my lock boxes... yeesh, what a nightmare!

I use the TMobile Wing. Not only can you save to the SIM card, but I have online access to my contacts in Outlook. I have had it just about a year, and can't imagine not having it...what a tool.

Debi - The price of the iPhone just got cut in half a little over a month ago.  The iPhone 3G is the newest model and the price is down to $199.  The wifi feature is pretty amazing!

Isn't it amazing how much we've come to rely on cell phones?  Thankfully you got a loaner so you can hang on to your sanity until yours gets in.
