Brett is now a JET!! It's official, Brett Favre is no longer a Packer.

The Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets have made a trade.  Brett Favre will now play in a different color green uniform.

I understand he will feel right at home with being able to go hunting 5 minutes away from practice.   That probably helped with the negotiations!  Lots of open land nearby to do one of his favorite things - hunt, fish, etc.

The Packers did not want to see Brett play anywhere in their Division.  They knew he'd be a challenge for their team!  And boy what would happen if they had to play against him in the play-offs.  It still disappoints me that they couldn't see his value on their team, yet they knew he could beat them if he played for Tampa Bay or Minnesota.  (Not that Minnesota had an interest of late...)  So I hear anyway.

So, it's off to New York early today for Brett and then he'll catch up with his team for their first pre-season game.

I will now have to learn a bit more about the New York Jets.  For I will always be a Brett Favre fan!  Now I have 2 teams to keep an eye on.

The trade is a good deal for the Packers.  They will get a draft pick based on Brett's stats this year.  The better he does, the better their pick.

Now let's imagine him going to the SuperBowl.  That would be the best!!

Good luck Brett. I know the Jets are going to pick up some new Wisconsin Fans!

I am glad to see this has had an ending that both parties are happy about.  I personally thought that for the Vikes to take him would disrupt the team and a young QB to much for the 1 years he may play.

I wuld consider finding Brett a Nice Rental place. If he enjoys his home know, he isn't going to move permanently just for that short of a time span!

Bill, I am glad this didn't upset your teams rythym!  Although it sure would have been fun going to a game between the GB Packers and the Vikes.  They are always fun anyway!

It will be strange seeing him in another uniform this season. To me it is disappointing as a sports fan. I know it is a business, but you just don't see many individual players play their entire career with one team. He has been the figurehead of the Packers for so long and now we have to see him as "Broadway Brett." Good luck to him.

April...

I heard this morning on ESPN that the Number 4 will be retired from the entire numbers system, including math. Kids will now learn...

One, two, three Favre, five, Six...

Trey - Brett started out with the Atlanta Falcons, my Jets are his 3rd NFL team.  I'm a little sad for Chad Pennington, who is a great guy, but just couldn't throw the deep ball.  I'm hearing Dolphins and surprised that Herm Edwards doesn't make a play for him in KC.  It's not the Chiefs QBs are setting the world on fire.

It's a sad day in Green Bay...  I have ALWAYS been a packer fan. I think Favre was very difficult to deal with, but that's the football business. If you don't know how to deal with Prima-Donna like superstars you don't belong coaching or managing an NFL team. Shame on the packers for blowing this one. This is one case where a team with an owner would have probably not let this happen.

I am NOW a NY JETS fan.

Go Brett Go....I agree wtih Ralph....Unfortunately the PACKERS BLEW THIS ONE.  THEY NEED TO WIN THE SUPER BOWL WITH AARON RODGERS THIS YEAR...otherwise, it once again proves that the Packers have really screwed the pooch.  Then it's Ted Thompson's head...maybe even McCarthy's.  In Illinois we learned when Krause said an organization wins championships, not players....Michael Jordan went bye bye....so did the Bulls dominance.  Same affect here....

The Ted Thomspon countdown begins....

Rick - Yes, it was a great pick for the Packers when they brought Favre up from Atlanta.  It still seems like he played for one team - because it was so long.  I now look forward to a season of watching the JEts!

Ralph - So many fans are completely annoyed with the way the Packers handled this.  And yes, anyone managing the players should be able to deal with the egos.  These are stars and they sometimes get big heads!  It's obvious the Packers were worried about playing against Brett in the same Division - so what gives - why not keep him on our team?  Egos. That's it. Egos. Thompson shouldn't have an ego bigger than Bretts' - but he does!

Ilove the new number system. This was very funny. I hope he does well for the Jets they need all the help they can get.

I can't believe the Packers would allow this to happen.  Packers won't be winning any superbowl with Aaron Rodgers as their quaterback.

Tony - we in Packerland can't either.  I think Ted Thompson's ego was to blame.  He never got along with Brett Favre.  What a dip sh%$

You just summed up what anyone that supported the Packers over Brett in this mess SHOULD realize. They've now got an 8 or 9 win team on their hands after playing the in the NFC Championship...and the Jets have an 8 or 9 win team on their hands after being 4-12 the season before.
