I sat through an Identity Theft Workshop last night and what some of these people have gone through is absolutely terrifying.
- one woman having her door bashed by the cops to arrest her deadbeat son, but the son was two years old and someone had stolen his identity and had run up $50k inn fraudulent charges.
- one man, who got a bill for a liver transplant, but he had no scars and when he questioned the hospital, they would not help him casue his signature did not match the one on file and they would not let him view the other file. The one the other man used to steal his medical insurance. He had to file bankruptcy loosing his business.
- one woman, a teacher, refused a raise when a criminal back ground check came back that she had been arrested in 3 different states for prostitution. Not her, but a girl that she had counseled early in life has been traveling around in warm weather states on her 'back" per se. Had stolen her identity and was ruining the reputation of a formerly high respected teacher.
I could go on and on with the stories or id theft horror, but listen in tomorrow as I replay snippet of the Dave Mons interview from a few weeks back.
